New (11th August 2014) Jakarta - Operations Excellence Specialist 

The role

 

The Operations Excellence Specialist (OES) is a critical strategic staff role within the Indonesia Operations Group and reports directly to the Operations Support Manager.

 

The OES is tasked with optimising or setting up processes and systems to support and improve the production operations activity, for example production loss management or operating cost tracking.  Central to this will be engendering a culture of continuous improvement and rigour to the operation.  This will be done in concert with the Operating Management System which is a group wide set of expectations.

 

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

 

Recommending and executing plans for operational improvements that:

·      Improve safety or environmental performance

·      Increase reliability and / or production

·      Improve efficiency of use of resources (e.g. opex, personnel, logistics)

·      Assist the optimum development of staff and deployment contractors

·      Ensure consistency and sharing of best practice within Indonesia, other POI operations, and within the industry

Gap assessment of Indonesia’s Production Operations compared to the Operations Management System (OMS)

Liaison with BPMIGAS and other governing and industry bodies in sharing and growing best operations practices around the Indonesia oil and gas industry

Monitor progress within the Competence Assurance System; ensure operational effectiveness is not limited by personnel skills and training. Ensure mentoring, succession and nationalisation plans are in place and active across Production Operations

Reach out to other operators and BPMIGAS to optimise logistics so reducing overall cost recovery and drawdown on the State Budget.

Develop a 10 years operations plan to integrate new fields into the Block A system including future staff synergies, logistics planning, opex modelling, facilities design optimisation, drilling interfaces.

Ability to cover Operational leadership positions if temporarily required

Expert support and review capability for project pre-operations activities

Strong mentoring and coaching style in managing and development National staff

 

Qualifications

 

Bachelors Degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline

 

Profile

 

Skills / experience:

20 years + experience within Upstream Oil and Gas industry, in an OIM or Production / Maintenance Manager position. Including experience on offshore assets

Previously managed a diverse team of oil and gas professionals, ideally within Southeast Asia

Knowledge

Deep understanding of the details of offshore production operations and support requirements

Attributes and behaviours:

Ability to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation and establish trust

Strong facilitation skills and the ability to influence and exercise authority over diverse audiences even without a direct reporting relationship

Is sensitive and accommodating of local culture
